Hauwa Abbas – 2015 – 2016

HAUWA ABBAS is a strategic innovator, builder and Associate Certifed Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). In 2009, she established Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI) in Nigeria to implement programs committed to making a difference using timely interventions with indigenous and international partnerships. She is recognized and respected for her immense contribution to community engagement, advocacy and service delivery with an impeccable track record for marrying a global perspective with local experience by implementing high-impact interventions for community development through behavioral changes. Her work takes her across communities meeting traditional, religious leaders, women and youths to support systems, engage stakeholders to be accountable and sustainable. SLNI was granted special consultative status in 2021 by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN), the highest status to be granted to an NGO outlined in article 71 of the UN charter. In Rotary, Hauwa is a past president, a Past Assisant Governor (PAG). Past District International Service Chair, and past District Community Sercice Chair, covering 23 states and capital in Nigeria. She is currently a board member for the Rotary Action Group on Mental Health Initiatives (RAGMHI), The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Cadre Technical Advisor (2017-2025), and Rotary International (RI) programs committee member 2023-2027. A leader in community and capacity development, Hauwa is a recipient of numerous awards and featured in various publications. She enjoys traveling, cooking and painting.
